University’s Omaha Campus Launches Medical Transcription Associate Degree Program
New Program Added to Better Serve Area Students
OMAHA, Neb., May 13, 2010— The Kaplan University Omaha campus is now enrolling for its new medical transcription associate degree program.
The 18-month program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits to pursue a wide variety of entry-level positions in the medical transcription field, including those available in a hospital, clinic or physician’s office.
“Our campus is dedicated to introducing new programs as the needs of our community expand,” said Jeremy Brunssen, president of Kaplan University’s Omaha campus. “The allied health industry continues to grow, and we are happy to provide the education and training that will guide our students to new achievements.”
According to the Occupational Projections, a report by the Nebraska Department of Workforce Development, Research and Analysis Division, medical transcription positions are expected to increase by 24 percent between 2006 and 2016.
The medical transcription program emphasizes self-discipline and ethical standards. Students will have the opportunity to learn typing accuracy, speed and competency with the software applications most commonly used in medical transcription.
The new degree program expands the Omaha campus’s allied health offerings. Current campus offerings include a diploma in dental assisting and an associate degree in medical assisting.
Kaplan University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
