    Hesser College Appoints New President

     

    Higher Education Veteran to Take Helm of New Hampshire Campuses

                                                                 

    MANCHESTER, N.H., September 17 , 2010— Hesser College’s board of trustees has announced the appointment of Jacquelyn Armitage as the school’s new president. 

     

    Armitage replaces Bill Simonton, who served as interim president of the campus for the past year.

     

    Armitage, who has more than 35 years of higher education experience, comes to Hesser College from Lesley University where she served as vice president of national planning and administration.  Prior to that, she was vice president of Massachusetts campuses for the University of Phoenix.  Armitage holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts, a master’s degree in nursing from Boston University and a doctorate in educational policy, research and administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

     

    “We want to thank Dr. Simonton for the wonderful job he has done serving as interim president of Hesser College,” said Ed Eldridge, chairman of Hesser College’s board of trustees.  “Dr. Armitage is committed to continuing Dr. Simonton’s and Hesser’s focus on providing a career-centered education that effectively prepares our students to enter the workforce.”

     

    Hesser College has five campuses across New Hampshire and serves approximately 3,000 students.  The campuses offers bachelor’s and associate degrees, and diploma programs in the allied health, arts and sciences, business, criminal justice, design, education and legal fields.

     

    Hesser College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, (NEASC).  NEASC is listed as a regionally recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.
