CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, Oct. 10, 2008—Kaplan University’s Cedar Rapids campus will hold a graduation ceremony on Friday, Oct. 10, for 156 students. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel, 525 33rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. William Albrecht, retired economics professor from the University of Iowa, will keynote the ceremony.
Students will be recognized for earning bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, certificates and diplomas in one of 12 programs in the business, allied health, information technology, practical nursing and criminal justice fields. Upon graduation, students may be eligible for entry-level positions in their field of study. According to the Iowa Occupational Projections, a report by the Iowa Workforce Development, Labor Market and Workforce Information Division, medical assistant positions are expected to increase by 24.8 percent, practical nursing positions by 11.9 percent and medical transcriptionist positions by 12.1 percent from 2006 to 2016.
“Graduation is an important step in the lives of these students,” said Susan Spivey, president of Kaplan University’s Cedar Rapids campus. “Many will transition into a new career while others will continue their academic progression. The faculty and staff of Kaplan University are extremely proud of these students and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
The Kaplan University Cedar Rapids campus is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
