    First Ceremony Since Renaming

PHOENIX, Feb. 8, 2008The Kaplan College Phoenix campus will hold a graduation ceremony on Friday, Feb. 8, for 85 students.  The ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Arizona State University, West Campus, in the La Sala Ballroom at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road, Phoenix.  This will be the campus’ first graduation ceremony since the campus changed its name from Long Technical College to Kaplan College in August 2007.

Students will be recognized for earning associate degrees and diplomas in one of four programs in the allied health field.  Upon graduation, students may be eligible for entry-level positions in their field of study, many of which are in high demand throughout the state.  According to the Occupational Employment Projections, a report by the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Research Administration, medical assistant positions are expected to increase by 53.3 percent, veterinary technologist positions by 39.5 percent and respiratory therapy positions by 17.8 percent from 2004 to 2014.

“The staff and faculty are proud of all our graduates,” said Debra Thibodeaux, executive director of the Kaplan College Phoenix campus.  “I know that our students worked very hard and made many sacrifices to get to this day.  I believe they have a bright future in health care ahead of them.”
