    Long Technical College Changes Name to Kaplan College

    Phoenix Mayor and State Education Official Keynote Ceremony

    Phoenix, Sept 26, 2007Kaplan Higher Education today announced that Long Technical College is now known as Kaplan College. Highlights included remarks from Phil Gordon, mayor of Phoenix; Margaret Garcia-Dugan, deputy superintendent of public instruction of the Arizona Department of Education; Debra Thibodeaux, executive director of Kaplan College, Phoenix campus; and Jeff Conlon, president of Kaplan Higher Education.

    By changing its name to Kaplan College, the Phoenix based school is formally recognized as being part of the Kaplan family. Kaplan, Inc. is a global provider of education services, and its name reflects a long-standing reputation for excellence.

    "The Kaplan name brings our campus tremendous pride and national recognition," said Thibodeaux.

    "As mayor I have decided to build our city on education, so I’m here to say thank you (to Kaplan College)," said Gordon.

    Kaplan College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). The campus currently offers two associate degree and two diploma programs.     The new name became effective on Aug. 20, 2007.
