Hagerstown Business College Changes Name to Kaplan College
Hagerstown and Frederick Campuses Host Renaming Ceremonies
HAGERSTOWN, Md., Sept. 18, 2007—Kaplan Higher Education today announced that Hagerstown Business College will now be known as Kaplan College. Hagerstown Business College has two locations—Hagerstown and Frederick, MD.
By changing its name to Kaplan College, the school is formally recognized as being part of the Kaplan family. Kaplan, Inc. is a global provider of education services, and its name reflects a long-standing reputation for excellence.
Today, the Hagerstown campus hosted a ceremony to celebrate its new name. Highlights included the revealing of the Kaplan College building sign and remarks from Robert Bruchey, Mayor of Hagerstown; John F. Barr, President of the Board of Commissioners of Washington County; W. Christopher Motz, President of Kaplan College, Hagerstown; and Jeff Conlon, President of Kaplan Higher Education. Myra Kidd, representing Congressman Roscoe Bartlett’s office, presented W. Christopher Motz with an American Flag that has flown over the United States capital.
“Today, after 69 years of providing career-focused education, we reveal a new name in recognition of our proud affiliation with Kaplan Higher Education, a global provider of educational services,” said W. Christopher Motz, President of Kaplan College. “We at Kaplan College are dedicated to putting our students first.”
“The Hagerstown market is an important community for us, and we are committed to offering educational opportunities in some of the most in-demand employment fields in the state,” said Jeff Conlon, President of Kaplan Higher Education.
The Frederick campus will host its renaming ceremony on Thursday. The ceremony will feature remarks followed by a ribbon cutting.
Kaplan College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The campus also offers 2 bachelor’s degree programs, 12 associate degree programs and 8 certificate programs in fields including business, legal studies, allied health, technology and graphic design.
