Hesser College Appoints Mary Jo Greco as President
Third Woman in Hesser College’s History to Serve as President
Manchester, N.H., March 14, 2005 – The Board of Directors of Hesser College today announced the appointment of Mary Jo Greco as president of Hesser College. Ms. Greco is the third woman in Hesser’s history to serve as president, and brings a wealth of knowledge in higher education, with more than 20 years of experience in improving and expanding post-secondary institutions.
Ms. Greco previously served as President of Gibbs College in Montclair, New Jersey. There she led the development and implementation of eight new academic programs and dramatically increased the student population during her tenure. Ms. Greco also oversaw the initial awarding of candidacy for regional accreditation from the Middle States accreditation body. While at Gibbs College, Ms. Greco served as a trustee for the Katharine Gibbs Scholarship Foundation, a philanthropic organization that raises scholarship funds for the school.

Ms. Greco is the third woman in Hesser College’s history to serve as president. Hesser’s first female president, Gladys Lord, served from 1945 to 1964. Ms. Lord was succeeded by Mildred Goff, who served as president from 1965 to 1974. Ms. Greco succeeds former Hesser president, Robert Moon, who will now serve full-time as regional vice president, operations for Kaplan Higher Education Corporation’s New England Division.
Ms. Greco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with dual majors in Education and English from Trinity College of Washington, D.C., where she also received her Master of Arts in Teaching, specializing in Guidance and Counseling. While at Trinity, Ms. Greco received the Mary Murray McArdle award for outstanding contributions to the college community.
Hesser College currently serves more than 3,000 full and part-time students at its five locations throughout New Hampshire, with campuses in Manchester, Concord, Nashua, Portsmouth and Salem.
