    Kaplan Higher Education Acquires Ohio’s Total Technical Institute

    Brooklyn, Ohio School is Kaplan’s First in the Cleveland Area; Acquisition Expands Campus Network to 67

    New York, NY, June 4, 2004 – Kaplan, Inc. today announced that its higher education division has acquired Total Technical Institute, a career-oriented post-secondary institution providing training in the fields of technology, electronics and allied health.  The acquisition of the Brooklyn, Ohio-based school marks Kaplan Higher Education’s first foray into the Cleveland area and third school in Ohio, expanding the company’s number of campuses to 67 in 16 states. The acquisition is contingent upon regulatory approvals.

    Total Technical Institute offers diploma programs in Computer and Communications Electronics, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Technology, Medical Office Specialist and Pharmacy Technician.  Kaplan plans to add programs in Medical Assistant, HVAC and Electrician.

    Founded in 1980, Total Technical Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and is registered by the State of Ohio Board of Proprietary School Registration (OH Reg. #90-05-1291T).  The campus is located at 8720 Brookpark Road, Brooklyn, Ohio 44129.

    For those who qualify, financial assistance at the school is available through Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Federal Direct Loan Programs, Federal Family Educational Loan Programs and Federal PLUS Loan Programs.
