    Acquires Texas School Of Business

    Acquisition of Houston’s Leading Provider of Allied Health Career Education Expands Kaplan’s Network to 62 Campuses
     
    Roswell, GA, February 5, 2004 – Kaplan, Inc. today announced that its higher education division has acquired Texas School of Business, a career-oriented postsecondary school providing training in the fields of allied health and business.  The acquisition expands the Kaplan Higher Education network to 62 campuses in 15 states.  Kaplan Higher Education currently serves approximately 42,000 students through campus-based schools and online programs. 
     
    Operating four campuses around the greater Houston metropolitan area, Texas School of Business is one of the leading proprietary postsecondary schools for allied health and business programs in the region, with more than 1500 students currently enrolled.  In Texas, Kaplan Higher Education currently operates campuses in Beaumont, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Laredo, Lubbock, McAllen, Midland and San Antonio.

    Founded in 1983, Texas School of Business is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and its largest allied health program is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. 
     
    The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.  Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. served as investment advisor to Texas School of Business.
